Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how TheJournalAb (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our trading journal at thejournalab.com and app.thejournalab.com (the “Service”). TheJournalAb is a product by TheAbiodunAb, based in Lagos, Nigeria, and is available to users worldwide. We respect the privacy rights of all our users, wherever they are located.
1. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run the Service:
- Account information: your email address and password (passwords are stored securely and never visible to us).
- Profile information: your first and last name, country, date of birth, phone number, and optionally trading experience, account type, preferred pairs, trading style, bio, and profile photo.
- Trading data: the trades, notes, and statistics you enter or import into your journal.
- Technical data: basic information your browser provides, such as device and usage information, used to keep the Service secure and working.
2. How we use your information
- To create and manage your account and provide the journaling features.
- To personalise your dashboard, reports, and analytics.
- To send essential account emails (such as confirmation and password reset).
- To keep the Service secure, troubleshoot issues, and improve features.
- To process payments if you subscribe to a paid plan.
3. Where your data is stored and who processes it
We use trusted third-party providers to operate the Service. Your data may be processed by:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage (your account, profile, and trades).
- Resend — delivery of account emails.
- Hostinger — website and app hosting.
- Payment processors (such as Stripe, Paystack, or Flutterwave) — only if you purchase a paid plan. We do not store your full card details.
Each user’s data is isolated so that you can only access your own account and trades.
4. Cookies and local storage
The Service uses your browser’s storage to keep you signed in and remember preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
5. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers listed above, strictly to operate the Service, or where required by law.
6. Security
We protect your data using encryption in transit, secure authentication, and per-user access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to safeguard your information.
7. Your rights
You can access, correct, export, or delete your personal data at any time. You can edit most details directly in the app, or contact us to request access or deletion of your account and data.
8. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data, except where we are required to keep certain records by law.
9. Children
The Service is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
10. International users and your regional rights
TheJournalAb is operated from Nigeria and is available to users around the world. By using the Service, you understand that your information may be stored and processed in Nigeria and in other countries where our service providers operate, which may have different data-protection laws than your own.
Depending on where you live, you may have specific rights over your personal data, and we honour these regardless of your location:
- If you are in the European Union, UK, or EEA (GDPR / UK GDPR): you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your data, and to data portability. Our lawful basis for processing is to provide the Service you have requested and to comply with our legal obligations.
- If you are in California (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request its deletion, and to opt out of any sale of personal information — and we do not sell your personal information.
- All users may access, correct, export, or delete their data as described above.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@thejournalab.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes may be communicated by email.
